The Colored Blazer

When I was younger, I only really remember the blazer being available in a limited amount of colors to match those working girl power suits of the late 80's, but now there are tons of options to choose from. Since it's beginnings in the late 19th century, the love for this style of jacket has grown in more textures, shapes, and colors than anyone will ever know. Blazers are especially great to have when the weather is unstable, just as it has been lately in the Northeast. One minute your hot, the next your cold, so with a light blazer you can't go wrong.

These days it seems like the blazer is the must-have piece in everyone's wardrobe. You can find them in just about every store in the mall and at any price. I picked this one up at Love Culture in the King of Prussia Mall back when I was working there. If you're not ready to dive into brightly colored blazers, test the waters with more neutral or pastel colors. Try to think outside the box when it comes to layering. Experiment with pairing your jacket with jeans, slacks, a maxi, a mini, or a dress to create endless possibilities. How do you like to wear your blazers?

I would like to give a special thanks to Chaucee Stillman of Streets & Stripes for snapping these fun photos of me in the middle of Broad Street! Check out her blog about Philly lifestyle and fashion here!
