Designer, Trisha Williams' Spring 2013 collection offers a stylish mix of New York sophistication with the playfulness of the Tropics. Paying homage to her Barbadian roots with island ready fabrics merged with great attention to construction, Trisha Will is a brand worth paying attention too. I had the chance to meet the designer and view the collection at Kembrel's One Year Anniversary Party and I could honestly see myself wearing everything. I loved the feel of the clothes, how lightweight they were, and how easy, yet chic they presented themselves. Find out more about Trisha Williams and the collection on

Okay so I know I'm a little late, but I really wanted to share with you my first NYFW experience! I had such an awesome time being a part of something that I grew up watching on the Style Network, when all they showed was fashion shows. I always wanted to be part of that excitement and hopefully I'll be able to experience it again. Having been personally invited to become part of Kelly Cutrone's Twitter Team for the Emerson Fall/Winter 2013 Fashion Show, has been something I'll never forget! I would definitely like to thank you, the readers and everyone else who has supported Fashion of Philly to help us get to where we are today! I feel like each and every day we grow bigger and stronger to develop better content, exciting giveaways, and awesome experiences. I hope you enjoy the slideshow and feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think. Thanks again!

(If you are viewing this post on a mobile device and can't view the slideshow, you can check out the pics here on the Fashion of Philly tumblr page!)

What I Wore to NYFW

What I wore to the show: Kirra Faux Leather Peplum Tank, Nollie Leather Panel Leggings (similar here), and Army Jacket with Leather Sleeves (similar seen here) all from Pac Sun. Footwear: Aeropostale R2 Lace-Up Sneaker Wedge in Black. Earrings: Dangling Spiked Earrings from Piper Boutique Philly.
Every girl needs a little sparkle in her life and is the perfect online destination to find just that. Base out of Boston, Mass., each piece is designed and hand crafted to give the wearer a unique touch. Since the first day I wore the Black and White Crystal Hemp Wrap Bracelet, I started receiving compliments. I love the fact that it's a wrap bracelet because since I have a very small wrist it gives me more of a custom fit. The crystal beads pick up the light and give off a beautiful eye catching shine. The bracelet is great for dressing up or down and since it's black and white, it's right on time with this spring's upcoming trend.

Right now is offering Free Shipping on orders over $20 so it's the perfect time to check out and stock up on great styles for the season. Online you'll find everything from bracelets, earrings, necklaces and scarfs at great prices. Of course, make sure you follow them on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram and Like them on Facebook for exclusive deals and styling tips!

I'm sadly obsessed with jewelry. The way it can transform an outfit, represent different styles, and even take us to different decades. My latest obsessions: The Juste un Clou and Love Bracelets from Cartier. They're simple, fun, and eye-catching without being over-the-top. Celebs everywhere are wearing them especially the Kardashians, but if you don't have Cartier money, I've found some look-a-likes to help you out. Both styles can be found in my New Online Jewelry Boutique, Jewel of Philly! It's where I personally pick out pieces that I love and I know you'll enjoy as well. There's something there for everyone's budget and you'll find new pieces added every week. I even host a Flash Sale, where you can buy select pieces at great discounted prices. The starting price for the Juste un Clou Bracelet from Cartier is $6,350, but the Grace (available also in a ring for $28) comes in gold, rose, and silver for way less. The Love Bracelet starts at $5,850 or you can satisfy your luxury needs with the Cherie Bracelet for $28 also available in gold, rose, or silver. Now yes, the quality may not be as high as a Cartier but if you dress and act the part who's going to ask.

A few weeks back, I let you know about the Levo League Office Hours with Kelly Cutrone. Well, for your viewing pleasure here is some video footage of things you didn't see on the live stream. There's life lessons, funny moments, and other interesting stories. Enjoy!

Fresh and clean faces strutted down the runways of NYFW. The look of flawless skin and barely-there eye makeup made an appearance at shows from Alexander Wang to Ralph Lauren. Of course to achieve this look, you should start with clean, healthy skin before the makeup. With that being said, here's 6 tips and tricks to help you get closer to having that fresh and clean look.

  1. Relax - Stress can cause wrinkles and breakouts. Why not, turn on some relaxing, free good music and just chill out.
  2. Keep Your Sweets - Eating too many sweets isn't the best thing for your skin, but dark chocolate contains antioxidants that can help fight off bad bacteria. Just don't over do it.
  3. Change Your Pillowcase Regularly - Cotton pillowcases can adsorb tons of unwanted germs and oil from your face and hair. Wash them regularly to avoid transferring them to your face.
  4. Day and Night - To go along with the tip above, make sure to wash your face twice a day. In the morning, to rid the skin of any dust, dirt or bacteria that may accumulate while you sleep. Throughout the day, your face comes in contact with makeup, toxins and other things from our environment. To keep my skin feeling fresh, I use Olay Pore Minimizing Cleanser & Scrub .
  5. Exfoliate - You don't have to buy some super expensive scrub to do the trick. Try this homemade option made with sugar and coconut or olive oil to massage your face. The sugar will help break off those dead skin cells, while the oil works as great moisturizers as they are adsorbed into the skin without clogging your pores.
  6. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen - Don't skip on the sunscreen, just because it's winter. UV radiation can still be damaging to the skin year round. Kill two birds with one stone by using a moisturizer with sunscreen. I recommend Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with SPF15.

It's that time of season when people are trying to escape the cold and I don't blame them. These cold winter months can really get you under the weather (Pun intended). If you're one of those fortunate enough to get outta town, here are some helpful products and ideas to make your packing a little easier.

The Travelo is an awesome contraption that allows you to bottle up your favorite fragrance so that it's airport approved. It's really easy to use and small enough to fit anywhere. They're available in rollerball or spray options and in many different colors. You can purchase Travalo online at or at a store near you. Check out the video below to see how easy it is.

La Fresh Travel Wipes
La Fresh Travel Wipes are packaged individually and are perfect for traveling. There's a wipe for everything: a makeup remover, a face cleanser, hand sanitizer, nail polish remover, even deodorant! Whatever you might need while traveling, there's a wipe for that. I let my sister try them out last month while traveling to Texas. Her feedback, "They were very convenient. You don't have to worry about any spills because there's no liquid. You can stash them in your purse and go!" She said the wipes are also great for the office because you can just carry them with you discreetly. is a one stop shop to finding anything TSA friendly! Thanks to founders Alexi and Kate, you can now find great products and your favorite brands to travel with. Even if you're not traveling, it's a great place to try out all types of products without having to commit to a full size bottle. also offers kits for any gateway or occasion. There's kits for the prom, the beach, and those upcoming summer music festivals. Best thing of all, you can get them mailed to your house or directly to your hotel. Easy, right!
So whether you're doing some serious traveling this year, partying it up for spring break or know someone who is, I hope this helps make your traveling a little easier. Are you going anywhere fun soon? What are your favorite items to travel with?

Contrasting black and white is a big trend right now.You can rock them in stripes, windowpane, checks, or leopard print. Speaking of leopard let's start off in the top left corner. This Dorothy Perkins Colour Block Printed Dress is excellent for going out on a date or a night out with the girls. The way the pattern is laid out helps create the illusion of a slimmer waist line making it perfect for women of any size. The other dress is from Express and is cute, flirty and fun great for Saturday shopping trips. Causally wear this trend by throwing on a simple tee like this one from Mango or take it 9 to 5 with the ASOS Ponte Skirt and TopShop Checked Cigarette Trousers. If your not feeling that bold, you can always just throw on a striped shoe. For some added height, I love this Dina Striped Pump from Alice + Olivia. If you're looking for easy comfort, try the Nora Striped Ballet Flat from J. Crew. Channel your inner rocker with a pair of Vertical Striped Leggings from Forever 21 for only $11.80 or in these striped Skinny Hudson Jeans. To avoid looking like Bettlejuice, pair the striped bottoms with a high/low black chiffon top to give a chic look. For those cool spring mornings, throw on a striped draped cardigan like this one from Rachel Pally available on I hope this collage helps you find different ways to experiment with this trend. Have you already started wearing this look? What are your favorite ways to wear it?

The Savannah
Israeli Designer Ronen Chen's Spring/Summer '13 Collection is made up of 4 groups: Metropolis, Ocean Blue, Savannah, and Time Out. The collection is a minimalist dream with clean, simple silhouettes that are still eye-catching. The designer finds his inspiration in everything he encounters, from buildings and bridges to markets and sidewalks. Chen, who has over 20 boutiques, mostly in Tel Aviv, has expanded his collection online. Now women around the world can purchase his classic creations.

The Metropolis
My favorite group is the Metropolis! I'm in love with the stripes. Black and white contrast is such a huge trend and I'm a sucker for it. It's a chic look that anyone can wear! Remember it's all about the size of the stripes and creating an illusion. (I feel a contrast trend post approaching. Find out more ways to wear the trend here!) Anyways, check out his other two groups below: Ocean Blue and Time Out. Which one is your favorite?

For NYFW, I wanted have some fun with my nail design. So I picked up some nail stickers in leopard print from Sephora (which were on sale for $5). Instead of using the stickers on all of my nails, I only did the pointer fingers and painted the rest of them black (try this) and added a Matte top coat from Sephora by OPI. The result: a chic, edgy, fun look! What do you think?

Now to do something about those hang nails...hmm.

The Gorgeous Event Benefiting the City of Hope Foundation was lots of fun last week. I got to meet some great artists from the area, check out a fashion show featuring local boutiques and designers, and enjoy some good conversations. The Ritz Carlton provided great food and a picturesque backdrop for the event.

During the event, I discussed how Fashion and Art go hand in hand with Artist Victor Atkins (pictured above with his lovely wife). I took a liking to his current work entitled Prophetic Mirrors. At first glance, I was attracted to the bright stokes of paint, but soon I started to notice words popping out from the background.

The first class of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator Designers-in-Residence program present their Spring/Summer 2013 Collections during a pop-up shop at Knit Wit. The shop will be available Thursday, February 7 to Wednesday, February 14 during regular business hours. Trying to stay fashionable in the winter months can be sort of difficult for us in the Northeast. The freezing temperatures and frequent snowing can really put a damper on your spirits, let alone your desire to look stylish, but don't let that stop you from adding a little sparkle to your winter wardrobe. Here are two hot jewelry trends this season that will definitely warm you up. Bundling up from the cold usually covers most our accessories. Glove and mittens hide rings, scarves cover necklaces, and heavy coats can make our bracelets do a disappearing act, but there's one piece you can usually find exposed. Your earrings!

This season why not let hoop earrings add some pizzaz to your uninspiring wardrobe? Hoops are fun and easy, and you can decide how big or little a statement you want to make with sizes that range from small and modest to extra-large. Choose a classic hoop to wear on an every day basis or go for something more exquisite, like the Must Have Diamond Hoop Earrings, to don out on a dinner date or to a party. Whichever style you choose, the dazzling row of diamonds will turn heads as you go.

Diamond studs are another wonderful and elegant accessory to invest in. They are the proverbial “must-have” piece. And although they are trending now, this is one item that will never go out of style. Similar to hoops, studs have an extensive collection to choose from, starting with the simple and sophisticated classic studs to the ornate designer ones. Whether going to the office or into a nightclub, you can walk in confidently knowing that its your glamorous accessories that are making a statement and not your over-sized coat

If you've been following me on Instagram, you know that last week Fashion of Philly went to hear some inspiring words by PR Maven, author, and reality TV star, Kelly Cutrone. The event took place at the Levo League office in New York City. I grew up watching Kelly Cutrone on MTV's The Hills and The City and believe it or not these shows made a big impact on my life. I say this because when I first attended The Art Institute of Philadelphia, I studied Digital Media Productions, but after watching seasons of The Hills and getting a glimpse of what it would be like to work in the fashion world, I switched to my original choice, Fashion Marketing. Yes, I do realize that those shows were made for television and they showed all the glitz and glamour, but fashion was (and still is) something that always interest me.

So when I got the invite to come hear Kelly Cutrone, I jumped at it. It was great to see Ms. Cut Throat Cutrone in a more personal, laid back and friendly atmosphere. She explained her ups and downs, answered questions from viewers at home and gave great career and life advice. At the end of the Office Hours, she shared a special surprise with us that I'm not going to share just yet. Just pay special attention to my tweets this Sunday to find out what it is. Here's a hint: It's Pretty Amazing!!!

Click here to check out the pre-recorded live stream and don't forget to check back this Sunday for extra footage of what happened when the cameras weren't rolling.
