Gone Gatsby

Banner from hdwallpapers.in
The Great Gatsby comes out in theaters today and it is creating such a buzz in the fashion and beauty industry! I always find it so amazing how movies inspire fashion as well as it being the other way around. With this release however, many brands are releasing collections to pay homage to the roaring 20's. It was a time when elegance was celebrated and the attitude was fancy free. On the fashion side of things, director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin collaborated with Muccia Prada who contributed 40 looks to the film. Most of which were from previous collections.

As for menswear, Brooks Brothers, who was a favorite of the author, made a huge impact on the film by providing all of the primary men's clothing including looks for Leonardo DiCaprio and 600 background suits. This also led to a full collection that is now available online and in Brooks Brothers retail locations worldwide. The line consist of rather dapper pieces from suspenders to shoes and even a greyhound walking stick.

In beauty, Boots No. 7, unveiled their Deco Darling collection created by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge. The collection included a glittering nail polish set, a loose powder highlighter, an eye palette complete with Art Deco style embossing and a style perfect eyeliner. What I found odd though, is that the collection was only released from October 2012 to December 2012 even though the movie wasn't due until May. Plus I think the products were only available in the UK, but if you're dying to get your hands on it, I spotted some items on Ebay. Don't know how trustworthy it is, but it's just a tip.

This year, Tiffany & Co. held their grand Blue Book Ball at New York's Rockefeller Center. The theme was centered around The Great Gatsby with performances and fine decor. Many celebrities arrived decked out in beautiful jewels from Tiffany & Co. including Carey Mulligan, who plays Daisy Buchanan in the upcoming film. Tiffany's has also released their Great Gatsby Collection full of breathtaking pieces from a diamond and freshwater pearl headpiece to a hand ornament with a daisy motif in diamonds, pearls, and platinum.
