Behind the Shades

As every one knows, Anna Wintour, is a major influence in the fashion world and her background is amazing! One summer I stumbled upon the bio of Anna Wintour at a rummage sale and I had to buy it. The book written by Jerry Oppenheimer entitled, "front row - Anna Wintour: The Cool Life and Hot Times of Vogue's Editor in Chief", takes you on a journey through Wintour's childhood to her years at Vogue in September 2004. Reading this book helped me understand the demeanor of the stone faced lady with the blond bob and how she got to be the woman she is today. After reading the book, peep the movie (if you haven't already), The September Issue, a film by R.J. Cutler, to get even more of an insiders look on what is called the Fashion Bible. I missed my first chance to view the movie when my class went to see a private screening with the one and only Andre Leon Talley. Of course, that was the one day I happened to not go to class. Big Mistake, Huh!?!

If you did see the movie or read the book, what are your thoughts on either one?

  1. The film isn't what I expected, but I definitely learned much about the magazine and the fashion industry. The bottom line is: Anna isn't here to make friends. She's here to get the job done.
