The 2nd Street Festival is Back!

Philadelphia's largest neighborhood summer food and music festival is back - and bigger than ever. After a pandemic delay, 2nd Street Festival returns and will take over Northern Liberties on Sunday, August 7th, from Noon to 9:00pm. The 2nd Street Festival will feature the largest footprint in the event's history, extending along N. 2nd Street from Spring Garden through Girard this year. The event will feature 200+ bands, DJs, restaurants, bars, breweries, distilleries, food trucks, artists, entertainers, makers, small businesses, musicians and neighborhood shops.

I had the chance to attend a press preview sponsored by Jim Beam to try out what some of the restaurants were offering for the festival and they did not disappoint. Some of my favorites of the preview included Impossible Burgers and Mango Margs from Jerry's Bar, Chicken Empanadas from Cantina Dos Segundos, Fish Tacos from North Bowl and Ham and Raclette Cheese from Standard Tap. If you looking for a little pick me up, try the Affogatto from the Many Hands Coffee Co. Truck. From cocktails to cake, you'll find a variety of tasty bits to try from some of your favorite restaurants and some that may become your new favs. To see everything I tried and which restaurants we went to check out my Food Highlights on Instagram.

For music fans, this is one of the largest outdoor festival music line-ups for a festival in Philadelphia since events returned after the pandemic shut down. There will be two main stages, and music spots along the festival footprint. The all-day line-up will include two dozen live bands, DJs, drummers and other entertainers. This is a great way to get back out there and support your local artists! For shoppers and families, look for dozens of makers and artists organized by Art Star, plus family fun, photo opps, balloon art, splash zone, glitter tattoos, small business pop-ups, and so much more.

Events like these give attendees the opportunity to support local businesses and give back to their community as a portion of proceeds from the festival benefits programs and services through Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association (NLNA) and the Northern Liberties Business Improvement District (NLBID). The 2nd Street Festival is also a bit of a teaser for the upcoming Northern Liberties Night Market (by organizers of 2nd Street Festival) on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, on N. 2nd Street, from Poplar to Fairmont. For more info visit www.northernlibertiesnightmarket.com. This will be another event you won't want to miss!
