My day at the The Rittenhouse Spa and Club Part I

Happy Hump Day Everyone! Now that we're half way thru the week, have you already started to make plans for the weekend? Maybe it's a Girl's Night Out or a day to the beach. Well here's a great option, a trip to the spa! Join the newest member of Fashion of Philly, Shannon Thompson on a relaxing visit to The Rittenhouse Spa and Club. The services were so awesome that we had to break it up into two parts: The HydraFacial MD and The Summer Styling Session. I hope you enjoy it!

My experience at The Rittenhouse Spa and Club was better than I ever could have imagined.  I had the absolute best day.  Situated on the third floor of the luxurious Rittenhouse Hotel overlooking Rittenhouse Square, the Spa and Club, which opened in September, offers anything a person could dream of.  The spa offers various massages, facials, tanning, and other services.  The salon offers hair color, cuts, extensions, and different conditioning treatments depending on hair type.   Not only that, but the staff was nothing but polite and accommodating the entire time.  Everyone I came in contact with made me feel like they truly wanted me to have an experience that I wouldn’t forget—and they were successful.

HydraFacial MD

My first appointment of the day was a HydraFacial MD.   Sandra, my esthetician, was nothing but friendly and knowledgeable.  She met me in the relaxation room where I was reading a magazine and munching on some of the complimentary snacks.  Sandra automatically made me feel comfortable and talked me through the whole process.  To start, she did an evaluation of my skin to take specific care of me.  I didn’t feel like she was going through the motions like a robot.  She also answered any questions I had during the process, and I had quite a few.

The new Hydrafacial MD is unlike the normal facial available at any spa.  It’s a clinical facial that protects, hydrates, and exfoliates your skin in four steps that takes thirty minutes (the spa also has a 60 and 90 minute option).  The Hydrafacial works on all skin types to achieve the best skin possible.  It is a chemical and physical exfoliation that extracts oils and debris from your skin.  Please don’t let the words “chemical” and “clinical” scare you.  Between the warm cloud-like bed, candles, and soft lighting the entire experience was incredible relaxing.  More importantly, the facial left my skin feeling the best it has ever felt.  I never want to wear make up again (just kidding).

The thing that I liked most about the facial is that it didn’t feel like I was getting layers and layers of lotion lathered and pressed into my skin.  This facial felt like it was actually cleaning my skin and unclogging my pores.  Since I didn’t know what to expect, I was nervous that it might hurt.  However, I didn’t think it hurt at all.  It actually felt extremely satisfying.  I could feel everything that was clogging up my pores being sucked out, allowing my skin to breathe.  I absolutely loved it! My facial concluded with a hot scented towel over my face and wonderful neck, shoulder, and arm massage.  It was the perfect ending to the thirty-minute experience, and I couldn’t have been more relaxed at that point.

After my facial, Sandra went above and beyond taking time to show me the other spa facilities.  Each room was better than the next.  From the tanning rooms, to the couples massage room I was really impressed.  Each room was clean and in pristine condition.
